August 17, 2021This is a graded assignment. Using Google or some other web browser, find a website from the worldwide web which discusses one of the topics from this week’s reading. Topics are 1. Inside the cell; the plasma membrane or cells under the microscope. 2. The Dynamic cell; what is energy or metabolic pathways and enzymes. 3. Energy for life; the calvin cycle reactions-making sugars. 4. Energy for cell; cellular respiration or inside the mitochondria. Make sure to pick a website that helps you better understand a topic covered this week.Examine the site thoroughly to make sure that it discusses this topic at some depth, and that it is not too advanced for the course. Generally, if you cant find most of the terminology used on the website in your textbook, the site content is beyond the scope of this course. The site must be a legitimate scientific site rather than a religious or philosophical site. Do not use any websites associated with the following:Encyclopedia/Wikipedia ArticlesCourse DescriptionsSites posted by elementary and high school classesSites designed to “sell” you on a religious view, a philosophy or a product While you are looking at the site, copy the exact location given at the top of your page. It begins with http://. Make sure you copy every dot, underline, etc. in the URL (the easiest way to do this is to highlight the URL, right click, and choose “copy” from the drop-down menu). Also write down the name of the site, the author’s name if you can find it, and the last date updated if available. Next, write a description of the site you visited (at least 150 words). Make sure to include in your paragraph a reference to the page number that corresponds to this information in your textbook. Please check your spelling before you finish this. The site must cover one of the topics for the week, and it may not be a commercial site’s sales pitch. It may not be a college course description. It may not be an encyclopedia entry. It may not be a philosophical or religious site which pushes a particular point of view, because science works on different principles. Any of these types of sites will not count and not be graded. You must write a full paragraph describing the site contents, authors, navigation, graphics, links, etc. One or two sentences or sentence fragments will lose 15 – 20 points, depending on how brief or how descriptive they are.
